ZAMBIA COMMUNITY

DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

Jerry Kufuna is a graduate of ACTS (Africa Christian Training School) founded by Alastair Geddes and led for many years by Ngwiza Mnkandla and Faith Ministries in Zimbabwe.

Jerry a native of Zambia returned home and planted a church and today his ministry is extended to include the development of his local community.

Naomi

Naomi Haynes is a graduate of Wheaton College and currently a PHD student at the University of California. Six years ago Naomi arrived in Zambia to assist Jerry Kufuna and his church with their development model.

The church acquired 50 acres to be utilized to assist with the over 50% poverty base in Zambia.  The project to be based on this land has two criteria INCOME GENERATION and VALUE ADDITION.

 Farm Plot - Maize
A consultant from the US has helped restore the soil and make it viable for crops (see the maize now growing on the land). Jerry was originally told nothing would grow on the land…but look now!  Crops such as maize, bananas, vegetables and aloe vera grow on the land. Families are being fed, work the land and live on the property.

THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT IS WORKING!

Naoimi writes; "we have already obtained a contract to produce aloe vera for a local company and have earned money through the sale of seeds and seedlings – we hope to acquire an incubator to hatch chicks for a chicken farm."

This project of COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT meets the standards in the IMPACT INTERNATIONAL mission statement.

We want people to fish for themselves so we buy them a pole and a hook (we only send seed money and encourage further development for growth and future income).

"We hope to extend the project’s scope by providing instruction in other sustainable agricultural projects including beekeeping. As Christians we see this project as a way to respond to the Bible’s mandate to care for the poor in a long-term and sustainable way," writes Naomi from Zambia.
